Spirit - Brigid Kemmerer Though I didn't obsess over this book as much as I did the first two, it was still a super solid read. The characters are simply amazing and without a doubt this series strength. It was so refreshing to really see Michael from the perspective of a male who wasn't related to him. I loved seeing his empathy spilling outside of the family circle.

I do have to admit that for a while there in the middle of the book I was frustrated and a teensy bit bored, kind of felt like it was going around in circles and not getting anywhere new. (Hunter fights, wahimissmydad, doesn't trust anyone, pushes Michael away, storms off. Hunter fights, wahimissmydad, doesn't trust anyone, pushes Michael away, storms off. Lather, rinse, repeat.) His inner dialogue felt repetitive, and I swear that he and Kate had to have had the same conversation at least three times. I also found the "full circle" thing anti-climatic... but there is amazing opportunity to explore it further in the series. I'm sure something is a'brewin with that and I can't wait to see more awesomeness of their powers combined. Butttt I don't have it in my heart to give Spirit anything less than 4 stars, because the characters and the dialogue are just so damn REAL. Brigid certainty gets the voice of teenage boys, and that alone is worth sticking around for :)
